Tips on the Proper Cleaning and Polishing of Terrazzo Floors<\/strong><\/p>\n

Terrazzo floors are known for their strength and durability as well as for being low-maintenance. \u00a0Compared to all the other flooring systems out there, terrazzo is perhaps the easiest to maintain and the easiest to clean.\u00a0 Unlike other flooring systems that need specific and constant cleaning, terrazzo can retain its sheen and polish with only minimal cleaning and as long as these simple cleaning guides are followed:<\/p>\n

  1. First sweep, then mop \u2013 as with all other surfaces, floors get dusty and dirt often gets tracked inside. Little particles of dirt and dust can over time scratch the surface of your terrazzo floors.\u00a0 Remember to do a thorough sweeping or vacuuming before you proceed with mopping or deeper cleaning.<\/li>\n
  2. Check the label \u2013 it can\u2019t be stressed enough that the use of incorrect products or general home cleaning solutions can be harmful to any kind of flooring.\u00a0 It is the same with terrazzo floors. Neutral solutions work best on terrazzo floors compared to acid-based cleaners which could slowly eat away at the finish when used regularly.<\/li>\n
  3. Follow instructions \u2013 terrazzo floors are considered easy to maintain because thorough cleaning using the right cleaning solutions only need to be done once in a while.\u00a0 However it is important to note that as it is with all cleaning solutions, there are instructions that need to be followed in order to obtain the best results.<\/li>\n
  4. When unsure, ask \u2013 When you\u2019re not sure about anything terrazzo cleaning related, it would be prudent to ask those who have a bit more experience with cleaning terrazzo floors.\u00a0 Or you could go online and visit sites of terrazzo makers and installers to inquire about cleaning related concerns.<\/li>\n
  5. By the numbers \u2013 remember the sequence, Sweep \u2013 Apply \u2013 Rinse \u2013 Buff.\u00a0 After thoroughly removing all loose dirt and dust from your terrazzo floors, apply the cleaning solution<\/span><\/a> using a wet mop evenly throughout the surface area.\u00a0 Allow the solution to do its job without letting it dry completely.\u00a0 Rinse the solution off completely with a clean mop and water.\u00a0 Let the terrazzo floors dry before buffing it out to get the sheen back.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
