Terrazzo Suppliers – What to Look for and What to Avoid

For any kind of building project there are a number of things to consider before making any kind of final decision like location, materials and suppliers, budget constraints, labor force and many more.  Building any sort of structure, you have to make sure that you get the most out of your money.  Standards need to be established for the essential and critical requirements such as raw materials, workforce and suppliers. This is especially true when it comes to building flooring systems.  One of the things that need to be decided is the material to use and terrazzo is one of, if not, the most preferred flooring material available to you.  So now that you’ve chosen what to use, you need to find the best fit among the numerous terrazzo suppliers in the current market today.

So, what should you look for when it comes to terrazzo suppliers?

First is proximity.  Choose terrazzo builders that are near your build site.  Do a quick search of terrazzo suppliers that are within city limits and then a second list for terrazzo suppliers that are just outside the city.  These lists will serve as your base choices.  Proximity is significant as it decreases the issues of longer travel times of your suppliers to and from the build site.

Second is feedback.  There are so many terrazzo suppliers but not all of them can get the job done right so you have to do your due diligence.  From your first list of terrazzo suppliers, go online and start looking for reviews from past clients.  If possible, talk to building contractors, engineers or designers to get their feedback on your choices so you can make an informed decision.

Third is area of expertise.  Whilst there is a great deal of terrazzo suppliers to choose from, not everyone will be a good fit with you and your building project.  Add to the fact that not all of them will be experts at all the materials they’re supplying.  Choose the ones that truly specialize in terrazzo.  Those are the ones that will have extensive knowledge about terrazzo and its qualities, the advantages and disadvantages of using specific types and finishes of terrazzo and can offer expert advice when needed.

Fourth is their work portfolio.  Akin to feedback, a terrazzo supplier’s work portfolio is also quite a significant consideration when looking for terrazzo suppliers.  The quantity of their body of work should speak for them in terms of the quality of their work and their dependability and credibility as suppliers.  Their work portfolio will also show you their range when it comes to design and builds.

And last but not the least, cost.  The cost of getting a quality terrazzo flooring isn’t exactly inexpensive, however there are some terrazzo suppliers who charge more than their competitors.  This could be because they are genuinely worth the price as they offer quality work and materials but this is not the case for everyone.  It is important that you check their work against what they’re charging before deciding.

Choosing to have a terrazzo flooring system for your build is not something that should be taken lightly.  Do the research and be adequately informed before making your choice among the terrazzo suppliers that are available to you.
